The joys of deploying

In preparation I have to get stuck like a pig.  Some vaccines we get every time we deploy, like Anthrax.  This one, luckily, is a one-time vaccine.  Here is a picture diary as my shoulder healed.

CAUTION, viewer discretion is advised due to the graphic nature of the pictures.

Things I hear:

Emmi:  Kaleb, I can't hear you over the sound of my awesomeness.

Snapshot

Here's a typical "Lazy Day" photo in our house.

Da Bomb

Kaleb: Emmi, what would you do if I told you I put a bomb in your pants?

Emmi: I would smack you upside the head before I died.

Oregon

Took a trip to Oregon and was able to see the Spruce Goose. It never ceases to amaze me how seeing something in person is astounding, even after seeing photographs.

We were also blessed to spend spend time with my Uncle and Cousin.
We were also able to visit some good friends of ours, the Burgi's. The kids (and dogs) played great together and dinner was phenomenal. Thanks! (sorry, no pictures to post.)

Birthday

Celebrated my birthday last week. Yeah me! Thanks for all the phone calls, texts and e-mails.
Here are some of my gifts:
Mia made me a castle.

Two children made me menus I can choose from and redeem over the next year.

Emmi made me a breakfast omelet in bed.

And Jennifer bought me a 5x5 rubik's cube, look at my collection grow!

Snow fun

When camping we found this little hill for the kids to play on. Here's Kaleb trying out the snowboard.

April Fools

Can you believe April Fool's day is one of Jennifer's favorite days? Well, if you really know her, you know the answer would be "YES!"

Came down stairs that morning to chocolates on the counter. I remembered what day it was and was wary, but the kids weren't. I enjoyed the show as the kids bit into chocolate covered cotton balls. I must admit, it was entertaining watching their faces as they realized things were amiss.

Camping trip

We just got back from a camping trip on the eastern side of the Cascade Mountains.

Here's Mia with her new best friend, Zach.

Brody made a new best friend too, Luke.

I didn't realize horses like to eat pretzels too.

We also witnessed this herd of Elk. We would have needed a wide angle lens to capture the other half.

We had a great time, but Jennifer was sure glad to be home and have indoor plumbing and her bed again.

Visit

Grandpa K came for a visit a few weeks back. Here's a picture of the kids checking out his big rig.
