Nine years is too old!

Kaleb turned nine today. I tried to cancel his birthday but it came anyways. He was really excited. It was nice his grandparents (Jennifer's side) and Uncle Ben could be here to help celebrate.

He was so happy for the gift we gave him...two Calvin and Hobbes books. He has been wanting them for so long. After he opened them he didn't move from his seat for a couple hours as he read them.

Home made band-aid

Brody hurt himself (scraped up his elbow). I gave him a paper towel to soak up the blood. Next thing we know, he is walking around with his newly fashioned band-aid. It was too funny, and he was so proud of it. He also asked if he could have some string or yarn to make a sling.

Mowing the lawn

is not as easy as it once was. I started about 10:00 edging, mowing, etc. This is the final result (I really don't like hot and humid).

Button, Button, who has the Button

Ok, so we weren't looking for a button, we were looking for our ice-cream scoop. For a few weeks we could not locate our scooper, which is unfortunate because it is a really nice scoop. Anyways, we finally found it, in the freezer, inside the ice-cream!

Another 911 update!!

Scott finally got his new phone!! Happy Father's day Scott. Since Scott was getting a new phone anyways, I decided to get 2! One for me and 1 for the house. Happy birthday to me. So we now have not 1, not 2 but 3 new phone numbers. If you haven't received an email from us with the phone numbers, leave a comment with your email and we will email it to you. I didn't get the
I-phone, but it is still pretty cool. I am so spoiled!

Looking through some ....

pictures from the last few months, I found this one of Mia. It made me smile. Right before we moved, Mia really wanted to sleep on the floor in her sleeping bag and not in her bed. I walked in one night and this is what I found. It was so cute I had to get a picture. She was sleeping in the bookshelf! Silly Girl.

Proof...

that things grow bigger down here in the southern heat and humidity (no, it isn't a picture of women at the beach).

It's not Brody's surfing cockroach, but we did find this grasshopper climbing up the screen the other day. Brody put his hand next to it for comparison.

Next time I'll hopefully post the most recent snake which made its way into the pool area.

What do you get when you cross a...

very large, mostly dead cockroach, Brody, and Grandma K (who is extremely scared of cockroaches)?

Brody was the first to come across the giant cockroach. He picked it up by its antenna and proceeded to find Grandma. She immediately went on the defensive and started "instructing" Brody to get that thing away from her. Brody was loving it. Anyways, he went and threw the cockroach in the toilette, then went running to get the other kids saying, "You guys, do you want to see a cockroach surf?"

To the kids dismay, especially Brody, Grandma took that opportunity to flush said cockroach to its death and the kids didn't get to see any roach surfing.

911 update 1

So, I guess we only prolonged the inevitable, kind of like putting a band aide on a ripped artery. My phone gave up the ghost and took the sim card with it. We'll be getting new numbers hopefully by Saturday, but I'm not holding my breathe. Stay tuned, if you don't get a call from us in a while maybe your number went to Davie Jones' locker with my phone.

Phone 911

Ok, so the other day I had an unexpected trip into the pool. I had stepped in, onto the steps to get the pool vac. Well, I ended up going in a little deeper than expected, fully clothed and with my cell phone in my pocket.

I quickly pulled it out and tossed it to Jennifer, who happened to be standing right next to where I was just moments earlier. She opened it up and took out the battery. Emily (my little sister) then took it and put it in a bag of rice, where it stayed for the next 1 1/2 days (except for when I took it out to open it up and empty some water out of the screen). Anyways, with the screen still steaming up once in a while I was able to put the battery back in and viola, just like magic it is still working.

I am so glad we don't have to get me a new phone. Jennifer has been hinting (not so subtle man hints) that she would like an i-phone. I have been dragging my heals because I don't want to pay for the service. My theory, if I have a phone with all the bells and whistles, I'm going to pay for all the bells and whistles. Anyways, that discussion is postponed for now. Whew.

But mom the milk was chunky.....

Is what Brody told me this morning after I discovered at least 2 bowls worth of frosted mini wheats in the trash this morning. I really couldn't figure out why he would say that. Emmi had just opened up a new gallon of milk and her cereal was fine. Both Mia and Brody threw their cereal in the trash, I was really mad and told them they were not allowed to have anymore for the rest of the week and that they couldn't have anything until lunch. I know, mean Mom. You just don't throw away good food. Well it wasn't until a few minutes ago that I figured out why it tasted bad and had chunks.... They had used the spoiled buttermilk! Yuck!!! So now I need to apoligize, I hate apoligizing to a 4 and 6 year old! Just thought I would share the "chunky, yucky" story. I guess I should clean out my fridge more often.

We made it!

So I thought I would update you all on our adventure moving to Florida. After the truck was packed, the house was cleaned and my drivers making it to Texas, we were able to leave about 5:30 pm on Thursday May 21st. My friend Holli flew out on Wednesday and my cousin Courtney came on Thursday. Holli drove the car, Courtney drove the van with all the kids (thanks Courtney!) and I drove the big moving truck. Right before getting in it to leave I had a little bit of a panic attack. The thought of driving the big truck over 1000 miles hit me and I was terrified. Holli was nice enough to offer to drive it, but I knew it was something I had to do. After getting flipped off and not being able to figure out the commercial truck gas station, things improved. We drove the first night and made it to Beaumont, Texas. We got a late start the next day, and didn't make it all the way the next day like I had hoped. We drove through the worst rain storms I have been in for a long time. So on Saturday around 2:00 local time we finally made it to our new house. Scott was supposed to have some people come and help unload, but for a lot of it, it was Holli and Scott unloading. I just sat and watched. I figured I loaded half the thing myself, Scott could unload it. Around 5:00 a couple guys finally showed up and Holli and I just sat and watched the guys unload the rest. Courtney and the kids decided to take a dip in the pool. It was a little cold for my taste, and I waited until it warmed up a little more. The rain did stop for a few hours for the truck to get unloaded, but as soon as it was finished, the rain started up again. It ended up raining the next few days, with a few breaks for us to be able to swim in the pool, and go to the beach. I guess it was better that it was raining because then I had to unpack boxes. Scott said he would unpack everything, but that didn't last more than 5 minutes. If I would have waited for him, it still would not be finished. He has been really busy an work, so even though we are here, he still isn't around much.

I was sad to see my friend Holli leave. She flew out on Thursday. I was really excited that she called me after she got home. I really didn't think she would talk to me again for a long time. We threw her into the pool after she put up a great fight, and she was not happy at all. So thanks Holli for all your help and still talking to me, and you know that the water felt great :)
Courtney flew out on Sunday and we were all really sad to see her go, hopefully she will be able to come again soon. While she was here we took her to SeaWorld, and we all had a blast.

So all in all, it wasn't too bad, but I will never Move again myself!!! I told Scott that if I ended up with a few grey hairs he was to blame! Sorry for the long and possibly boring post, but I just wanted everyone to know we made and we sure miss all our Texas friends. I miss my little house with carpet, this house is huge and all but the bedrooms are tile and my feet are killing me! If it wasn't for my husband and the pool (I know pretty shallow of me) I would be back there in a heart beat. I never thought I would ever say that about Texas! You have brainwashed me too!
