For those who don't know, Friday is my date night. When I was in Ward council in church they would always tease me when something would be planned for a Friday night. I would always tell them that I would not be able to make it, because I was going on a date with my husband. It became quite the running joke.
Well fast forward to now. I don't have a husband to take me on a date, so I decided to take one of the kids each week on a date with me. Last night was my first kid date night. Mia was my date. She decided that we were going to go out for dinner and where we would go. We had terriaki chicken and potstickers at a great Japanese place. Afterwards we went on base and played some shuffleboard. I got beat by a 7 year old it was quite depressing. Mia and I had a great time. I can't wait to see what my other date nights entail. I have a picture of Mia at the Terriaki place, but it is on my phone and I can't figure out how to upload it to blogger. Hopefully I will figure it out before long, because I have some other great pictures that I would like to post.

Million Meter Challenge
Scott came home one day shortly before he left and mentioned that a few of the guys at work were going to complete a Million Meters of either walking, running, biking, or elliptical before they get home in December. It comes out to about 632 miles. I told Scott that I would totally do that with him. I was ahead for the first week and then he went and did 11 miles one day. I am up to 18 miles and he has 22 miles. Time to get my legs in gear and pull ahead again. Wish me luck!
Soccer Champions!
Today was Soccer Fest, which means that it was a tournament for all the teams who did well during the soccer season. Brody's team was in it, and ended up playing 4 games today. Needless to say they creamed every team that they were up against. I have to say that the last game was my favorite. They were down by two, which was very hard on some of the boys, because on the other games, the teams they played only were able to score 1-2 goals and they were usually up 3-8 points. Anyways they had no points and were feeling down in the dumps. They have an amazing coach who kept telling them that they were doing fine, and that they were playing great soccer and to keep it up and that those efforts would pay off. He had a great positive attitude that finally rubbed off on the boys and they ending up coming back in the second half with a score of 5-2. It was awesome!!! Let me also say that is was a crappy day to be playing soccer. It finally got up to 56 degrees and stopped raining this afternoon.
Brody played with a great group of boys, and their team work was amazing. I was so happy that Brody was able to be on such a great team. It helped him improve a ton in his soccer skills this season, and I actually enjoyed watching soccer for the first time in my life. Way to go REBELS!!

Score!!

The U-10 Champions!! Way to go!
On a side note, this morning Brody was supposed to be on the fields by 8:15 and he was late because of me taking to long to get ready. Anyways here was our conversation on the way there:
Me: Brody, sorry you are going to be a few minutes late.
Brody: That's ok Mom, I would rather be late with a Mom that smells good than be on time with a stinky Mom.
Me: Haha, uncontrollable laughter here. Well that's good, I think?

How to become Superwoman!
So I thought it was funny that my sister-in-law thinks that I am secretly Super Woman, so this blog post is for those who are not and want to know how to become one.
First- You laugh a lot and always have a smile on your face.
Second- You always make time to listen to your kids no matter how tired you are and you are always patient.
Third- You always have a home made breakfast and dinner on the table for those hungry children.
Forth- You open your home to extra children, no matter how long they stay. (or an exchange student from Norway)
Fifth- You are always aware of your friends needs (and take them to get doughnuts on National doughnut Day) and you do your best to take care of those needs.
Sixth- Your house is always clean, and your wonderful children always help out whenever you ask.
Seventh- When your husband leaves for a 7 month deployment for his job, you put on a happy face, and never cry.
Eighth- You always make time for personal and family scripture study and prayer.
Ninth- You make time to exercise 6 days a week.(and beat your husband in the million meter challenge)
Now let me tell you how it really is at my house, since I am in no way Super Woman. Yesterday was a tough day for me. I got up, got the kids out the door for school, went and picked up a friend's car to get an oil change done. (he is also gone on a deployment) Things were going ok until after the oil change. I wanted to drive the friends car for awhile to charge the battery before I took it back to sit for another few weeks. As I drove down the island a little ways, I started to think back a couple weeks to when Scott was around and we took a motorcycle ride. I started to tear up a little bit and then I lost it. I was mad that his job took him away from me for so long. I was mad that he was not here to go to soccer practices, pack meetings, soccer games, to mow the lawn, to help me clean up a flooding bathroom, that he wasn't here at night to talk too, or to play with my hair, to scratch my back, to help the kids with their math homework that I have no idea how to do. I was mad that I only got to talk to him on the phone for just a few short minutes each day, and that I had so much more to tell him then my 15 minutes would allow. (What can I say I am needy.)
The water works started then, and I could not get them to stop...all day. I thought something was wrong with me. I could not for the life of me figure out why I could not stop the water flow coming from my eyes. I think I got dehydrated and I had a huge headache. It was so bad that when Scott was able to give me a call, I couldn't even talk because I was so choked up, tears and snot were covering my face. When I was finally able to tell him what was wrong, he laughed at me. Let me say that I love my husband with all my heart and when he laughed at me, I also laughed and blew snot all over myself.
After the oil change that morning, nothing else was accomplished in my home. I sat my sad self down on the couch and watched TV. I ate cookies for lunch. No housecleaning was done, no exercise was accomplished and I took the kids out to dinner.
I think we would all like to be Super Women but we are human. It is ok to be mad, to have a bad day, to snot all over yourself, to have cookies for lunch, to watch TV all day, to not get anything done in your house, to take your kids out to dinner because you don't feel like doing a dang thing. It is OK. We have a loving Father in Heaven who knows what we are going through, he loves us. He doesn't expect us to be super women, he just expects us to do the best that we can. We can't expect more from ourselves than our Father in Heaven would expect.
So now that we all know that I am not superwoman, the list of things above are all things that I try to work on each day. It is not easy, and they may not all get done everyday or even at all, but I just try my best and it is good enough for me.
I really needed to write this post, I feel so much better getting things off my chest. I still miss Scott like crazy, it feels like a piece of me is missing. (heaven forbid he die before me, I would be a wreck) and I am still mad, but I know that I will make it through this trial in my life and come out stronger in the end. I will just step down from my soapbox now.

Crazy Month of May
For those of you who don't know, Scott left last week for his 7 month Deployment. It has been a super crazy month, but they all seem that way. Some things that have been going on are:
Brody and Mia are both playing soccer and love it. Scott was able to attend most of Brody's games, (which are so fun to watch) and only one of Mia's. Both of the kids have been having a great time.
School is still in session here, and doesn't get out until June 18th! I feel like we won't have a very long summer because school doesn't get out for so long. I am not a big fan of the school schedule here. They will start school again September 5th.
In the week that Scott has been gone, it seems like more crazy stuff than usual has been happening. The day after he left, I figured it was time to do some deep cleaning and I started in the girls room. Let me start this out by saying it is a very small room with 3 girls in it and not really much room to walk around and with it trashed you really couldn't step anywhere without stepping on something. Well as I was taking the blankets off Mia's bed I heard a crunch, and I found 4 eggs that Mia had placed under her covers that she was trying to hatch. Needless to say they were now cracked, but thankfully not rotten. We had been taking care of a friends chickens while they were out of town, so Mia thought she would get her own chickens this way. I proceeded to throw them away and went to work on another bed where I found one more egg with my foot. Ahh the joys of motherhood.
On that same day I lost my military ID. I could not find it anywhere. I had lost it somewhere between the checkout line in the grocery store and my car. I had retraced all my steps and could not find it anywhere. In order to get a new one, Scott needed to be here, or I had to have a power of attorney. (Which thankfully I had) As I was going to get a new one a few days later, I had a feeling to reach under the seat in the car and as I was turning a corner, it fell right into my hand. I was so grateful to have found it. I really liked the picture on the one I had.
On Monday I heard some uncontrollable laughter coming from the back of the house. I decided to investigate. As I was walking to the back bathroom I see Emmi on the bathroom counter, and Kaleb holding the plunger and about 1/4 inch of water was already on the floor with more flowing all over. It was quite the site and cleanup. Some one decided to use a roll of toilet paper, I thought I was done with that stage in life.
There was a Father sons campout over the weekend, and my visiting teachers husband was kind enough to take my boys with him and his son. They had a great time, although Brody did leave his jacket and lost his brand new pocket knife that he got for his birthday,. Brody hopefully learned a lesson about being more responsible for his things.
Well that is all the things that I can remember at the moment.

Happy 9th
But it is sunny...
Where did I go wrong? It was sunny outside and I couldn't get anyone to go out on a hike with me. :-(
